Endotracheal Tube Holder

Endotracheal Tube Holder

The Dale Stabilock Endotracheal Tube Holder helps prevent accidental extubation by providing a secure method of stabilization. The Stabilock provides fast and easy application to secure endotracheal tubes sized 7.0 – 10.0mm. With four placement options for its Adhesive Base, the Dale Stabilock Endotracheal Tube Holder covers the full spectrum of patient needs.

  • Soft, low profile endotracheal tube holder
  • Allows repositioning of ET tube
  • Gentle on delicate skin with no irritating-to-remove adhesive residue
  • Can be left in place for up to 3 days
  • Easily modified and simple to apply
  • Not made with natural rubber latex.

  • Reposition the endotracheal tube often to help prevent injury to the lips and underlying tissues due to unrelieved pressure.
  • Support the ventilator tubing to reduce pressure on the patient’s face.
  • To prevent skin ulcerations or skin tears, assess patient skin and medical conditions prior to applying.
  • Monitor daily or more frequently.

Clinical Testimonial

This product has been by far one of the easiest changes I have implemented at our institution. The nursing staff, respiratory staff and most importantly our families and patients benefit most from safety, comfort and aesthetics. If I have a patient that is frail and undernourished I will ask the staff to pay particular attention to rotating the tube Q12. As part of my daily VAP rounds, I will ask the RN why the patient does not have the Stabilock and unless extremely unstable I help the RN place the device immediately. It has become standard of care in our units and I very rarely need to ask why a patient is still taped. We rotate the tube every 12-24 hours and have no problems with decubitus.  If the patient is unstable we will rotate Q24. If stable Q12. I ask the staff to check under the lips to make sure that the plastic holder is not digging into the fragile gum tissue. The staff will do this during meticulous mouth care as part of our VAP prevention bundle. If any sign of underlip or gum breakdown the tube is moved. We buddy up when applying the device and when rotating to insure airway stability, this responsibility is shared RN-RN or RT-RT or RT to RN. ~Gene, RN
